Senior Home Repair and Modification Program
We understand the importance of maintaining a safe and comfortable living environment that allows older adults to age in place.

Our program is designed to provide home accessibility modifications and repairs that assist older adults homeowners, 60 + maintain their independence, prevent falls, and other concerns by living safely in their homes as they age.
Currently Services Only Provided In The Following Counties
Catron, Colfax, Guadalupe, Harding, Los Alamos, Mora, Quay, Rio Arriba, Santa Fe, San Miguel, Sierra, Socorro, Union, and Valencia.

As our program continues to grow and evolve, we are actively collaborating with an increasing number of healthcare professionals and construction companies, further strengthening our network. This expansion is instrumental in our efforts to extend the reach of our services to additional regions.
At Non-Metro Area Agency on Aging, our dedication to serving seniors remains unwavering. We are committed to ensuring that seniors have access to the essential home repair and modification services they need to maintain a safe and comfortable living environment.

Program Overview
Senior Home Repair and Modification Program supports:
-
Low-to moderate-income New Mexico homeowners
-
Aged 60 and above
-
That do not live in Bernalillo County
Our program evaluates homes for safety and provides home modifications, essential repairs, and accessibility improvements to ensure that seniors can continue to live independently and comfortably in their own homes.
Eligibility Requirements:
To be eligible for the program, applicants must meet the following criteria:

Age 60 or older.

Property must be the primary residence.

Applicant's name on property title for at least 12 months.

Not under bankruptcy protection at the application time.
-
Current Federal & State income taxes status.
-
Household income below 300% of Federal Poverty Guidelines.
-
Property located within New Mexico (except Bernalillo County).
Before any work is provided, an evaluation of the home and homeowner concerns will be provided by a NMAAA licensed health professional to ensure that all appropriate modifications and repairs are listed.
All home repairs must be within program guidelines and approved by NMAAA.
A Few Examples of Eligible Modifications and Repairs:

Flooring upgrades or replacement to enhance safety, prevent falls, and improve mobility.

Bathroom modifications, including roll-in showers, sink adjustments, and more.

Accessibility enhancements such as door widening, turnaround space modifications, and ramps.

Cabinet adaptations and improvements for convenience.
-
Installation of grab bars, handrails, doorbells, and adaptive wall switches.

Heating and cooling system repairs
-
New Ramp and/or stair modifications
-
All health and safety repairs are evaluated as needed on a case-by-case basis.
